Burns, Scalds, Electrocutions and Lacerations

New York Burn Injury Lawyer

My name is Melvyn S. Jacknowitz, and I am a lawyer with more than 34 years of experience handling personal injury matters for clients in Manhattan, throughout the five boroughs of New York City, Nassau County and Westchester County. Over the course of those years, I have helped numerous clients obtain compensation for serious injuries they received as a result of a burn accident, electrocution, scalding accident or accident in which they received lacerations.

I have obtained millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements for the injuries and hardships suffered in these kinds of accidents and in other personal injury accidents. While the money does not make up for the loss of health and other trauma, it can help pay medical expenses, address necessary accommodations and allow for a person to live more comfortably.

We care about you, not just your case. I care about those who turn to my law firm for help. Questions about your accident? Call 646-475-2386 or complete the electronic contact form for your free initial consultation with an experienced lawyer today.

Burn Injury

Burns can be caused from steam in pipes set at too high a temperature, apartment building fires, explosions on construction sites, car accident fires, electrical accidents, defective electrical household products and from insecticides and other chemical products. Injuries caused by burns can be extremely painful and are difficult to treat.

Electrocution

While electrocution is rare, it does occur. I recently settled a product liability claim for the loved ones of an office worker whose brain was seriously injured when an unplugged malfunctioning photocopy machine still had enough of a charge to electrocute her Electrical workers and construction workers are particularly susceptible to electrocution injuries.

Scalding

I recently was able to obtain a favorable result for a client seriously scalded up to the knees due to an employer's dish washing system that was not working properly. In New York City, another serious cause of scalding is when the water temperature in an apartment building's pipes runs too high and scalds a child.
